October 4

Today I'm determined to make it through a whole post. Maybe I'll just make a list and go from there:

VJAS
Dannii video
My book, since it's been a while
The presidential debate
PE
Chinese
Music (broad topic, I know)
My Dannii Minogue rant
Something happy (e.g. Paris, puppies, etc)

VJAS. Virginia Junior Academy of Science. This is what is smarticles like me do for the science fair now. It's basically what everyone else is doing, just harder. Luckily, we don't have to stick to the eight topics the other kids do. But we still can't work with people or animals without filling out loads and loads of paperwork. My project is this: The effect of changing the part of the rugby ball that hits your foot on the accuracy of hitting a target. I picked this because I wanted to do something with the awesome sport of rugby, because I figured no one else would be doing that. During camp this summer, I noticed that whenever I kicked the rugby ball, it never went where I wanted it to. Sure, oftentimes you're just kicking for touch and it doesn't matter where it goes, but I want to know if it could be aimed. Sure, I could probably get this question answered by anyone who plays rugby, but that would spoil the whole thing. So I figured, maybe what part of the ball you kick affects its accuracy. Why not? Now to turn on the juice and see what shakes loose!

Dannii video. Not much to say here, just another reveal. Which is always exciting, of course :) the THIRD song in the video is Viva La Vida by Coldplay. Can you believe the video is so long that three songs were needed? Dannii must have a lot of fans (no, duh!) We all can't wait to see the final, Nicola! Tomorrow's "behind the scenes" preview sounds intriguing too!

My book. Kylie, I Love You. Sadly, I didn't even write anything yesterday. I'm going to give you a summary of the next chapter. I think the last one I did was Chapter Two, so I'll do Chapter Three: Wow. Dylan goes home after they have dinner, but neither him nor Kylie can fall asleep. Naturally, Kylie pumps up the music. Did I mention she can't sing anymore? Yeah, that's why she's laying around in Adelaide instead of touring the universe and whatnot. So she's dancing around the room, and Dylan is watching her intently, realizing for the first time how totally entranced by her he is. Anyway, Kylie opens her window and is like, "Chessie, get over here!" and he's about to reply, when their rude neighbor (he'll come back later) shushes them. Then Dylan goes over to Kylie's house, and they have good talk, because that seems to be their thing now. Talking. Kylie tells him all about how she broke up with Andres Velencoso, which I now feel bad about writing, because he's an absolute darling and I love him. But what I wrote...poor Kylie. The end of Kylie's speech was: When I look back at all the ups and downs of our relationship, all I can think is...wow.

The presidential debate. A topic which I was hoping to avoid but am forcing myself to talk about. I don't have much to say, though. I didn't watch. Maggie said Mitt Romney wanted to outlaw gay marriage, so I'm not ashamed to call him a SOB or worse, a homophobe. He doesn't know what we go through. He's just a little, schooled white boy, who
hasn't figured out that the real way you learn is by experiencing. By people. Not by textbooks. I didn't watch the debate because I already know I'm voting Obama. Obama's just so real, such a genuine person. I didn't watch the debate because I had not interest in watching scripted men read about the crap that they care about and shouldn't. I apologize if I'm coming across as an anarchist.

In PE we are putting on the Nutcracker! My class is doing the battle scene between the mice and the soldiers, and today I found out I'm a soldier. I'm not sure if that's good or not, because I could've gone either way. In case you haven't noticed, I'm making my paragraphs shorter and shorter because I'm losing sight of my list of topics.

See, now I can't see anything on the list
above my Dannii rant, but I remember Chinese being on there. Sorry if I missed anything in between. I almost diesel in Chinese class today,
because we had a test on writing characters to say: Hello! May I ask, what is your honorable surname? What is your name? My surname is _____,
my name is _____. Aka 你好!请问,你贵姓? 叫什么名字? 我姓 Young, 叫 Grace. I nearly failed. God.

I'm going to save the Dannii rant for some other time, it's not that important. I'll just say I totally ranted about Dannii's X Factor era. It wasn't pretty. I'll leave you with something happy, ms. Parkhurt's motivational quote of the week: If you see someone without a smile today, give them one of yours.
